Pokémon Peppermint

Synopsis

You play as Ivy, an ambitious but sometimes lazy girl with wishes of one day succeeding Santa.

One day, when a mysterious letter arrives at her house asking for help deafeating the ancient Titans, Ivy jumps at the chance to prove her worth!

You will be assisted by your most loyal companion: Peppermint the Delibird.

Will you be able to uncover all of the various mysteries scattered through the three islands?

Will you be able to crush the three titans and answer the prayers of the mysterious letter's sender?

More importantly, will you be able to help clean up the archipelogo from all of Peppermint's misplaced gift boxes?

There is only one way to find out.

7h to 14h of gameplay depending on your style and thoroughness in completing optional quests.

(The current speedrun record is 3h57. Let me know if you somehow manage to beat it 😂)

Features

A custom-made gift system to obtain random Pokémon and items scaled by your current level.

An open world adventure spanning 3 islands (officially) with absolutely no grinding necessary, just maximum liberty.

A ton of optional sidequests to spice up the adventure and provide unique and powerful rewards.

A whole new custom-made soundtrack by King_Waluigi specially curated for the islands' environments.

Geoswag - Mapping, Eventing, Testing (+ moral support guy)

King_Waluigi - 95% of game's soundtrack

Notes

Theme inclusion : Every playthrough is kind of a surprise as nearly everything is randomly generated. The game's general theme is also that nothing is what ti seems to be at the first sight.

Dev notes : The game is a kind of experiment and is in nuzlocke mode by default. If you blackout a first time you have the choice to continue without nuzlocke. So, don't give up if you don't like the nuzlocke mode.

Hi, Altarax!

I finished your game and want to give you some feedback. 😄

Wanted to play your game last since I already played it during the midpoint of the jam.

General thought: Awesome and fun game. Shocked (positively) about the polish and content you managed to squeeze in compared to the old version!

Positives:

-Almost 10 hours of content and not a single minute felt like filler.

-Slowly unlocking parts of the island by getting new types was hella engaging. It was a smart move to add "relevant trades" in case the player doesn't get the types he needs.

-Quests were fun and the rewards were worth the trouble

-Perfect difficulty. The begining might be a bit frustrating, but after picking up a few presents it isn't too hard to build a proper team. If you are unlucky (bad matchup and you get the "no switch" debuff) you will surely lose one or two Pokemon, but that's part of the experience. You won't lose anything due to "unfair game design". And there are enough Revives to at least get your core members back if needed.

-Thank god for giving the Pokemon in the player's team a shared experience bar. Great idea. Many people wouldn't even consider that

-Great soundtrack (Still sad about the CD's shipping cost)

Negatives:

-In the late-game I see pretty much no difference between the rewards from the green and the yellow presents. In the early game the yellow ones are great for evolved Pokemon, but in the late game every gift contains fully evolved Pokemon and both boxes give TMs or Max Potions.

Really enjoyed this experience despite not being a big roguelite/permadeath-friend.

Congrats on submitting something within the deadline! 🎉
